SC&WP Federation Walk

SC&WP Federation Walk

SC&WP Federation members had a walk today to the ancient church and burial ground of Kilmadock in the Doune area. It was a reasonable day weather wise and 12 ladies came along to be guided by Anne Artis of Ruskie Rural. The group followed the path round Doune Ponds, then across the busy A84 and along a farm road towards the River Teith. The route then followed the river to the cemetery, a Christian site for 1500 years. Recently a stone of possible Pictish origin was unearthed and is of great interest to historians and will be preserved for further study. This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Scotland and is being looked after by a local group ROOK ( Rescuers Of Old Kilmadock). After wandering among the gravestones the ladies retraced their steps to Doune and the Buttercup Cafe where they enjoyed a much needed seat and delightful lunch.
