Glenborrodale Adventure

Glenborrodale Adventure

Tuesday 17 July to Friday 20 July

Ruskie Rural have been on the march once again!

On the 17th July, three car loads and a small motorhome left the gathering point in Callander and made for the Corran ferry.  Our destination was Glenborrodale, a hamlet overlooking Loch Sunart on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Our accommodation was the Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse set amongst an ancient oak woodland.  It proved to be spacious and comfortable and Ruskie Rural soon made it home. We had sole occupancy which proved to be a real winner with everyone.

It was a self-catering establishment.  We catered on our first night and we enjoyed eating out in local hotels the other two evenings.

During the day we explored the beautiful and stunning area of Ardnamurchan.  We visited the most westerly lighthouse of Great Britain and two intrepid members made it to the top.  We filled our days on the west coast by visiting two castles, an art gallery, a natural history visitor centre, a walled garden, a distillery, and a half day visit to Tobermory.  We were very lucky with the weather; the rain did not appear and neither did the midges.

Evenings were full of chatter, laughter and companionship.  Three of the company were skilled ukulele instrumentalists and led us in a grand sing song.

The homeward journey was via Fort William to take in yet more beautiful scenery.

Our happy trip was over but the memories will keep us smiling till our next adventure.
