10th January 2017

A super start to 2017 - music, songs, poems, singalong and of course the supper - haggis neeps and tatties.

Anne Artis, President gave a warm welcome to members and friends - an excellent turnout for the opening meeting of 2017. At the start of the evening we all had a glass of bubbles to welcome in the new year.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by the talented members of Ruskie. The evening started with Jane playing the piano and singing some well known songs - the audience were encouraged to join in. Marjorie then recited two hilarious poems, very funny. Norma Brewster played some familiar Scottish tunes on her accordion - lots of toe tapping. Jean played the piano and the audience who were in excellent voice enjoyed a singalong.

Anne Artis gave an address to the haggis while a delicious plate of haggis, neeps and tatties was served to everyone. Thanks to Alasdair Beaton for the haggis, David Matthew for the turnips and Andrew Burnett for the tatties...........and to the ladies who did the preparing & cooking.

Competitions: 4 pieces of tablet: 1st Elsie Dougall. Acrostic Poem: 1st Sheenagh Beaton 2nd Marjorie Baxter 3rd Isobel McGuire 4th Allison McLeod.
