"From Plough to Plate"

"From Plough to Plate"

Tuesday 12 September 2017

Ruskie Hall was very busy for the first meeting of the year. Anne Artis, President extended a very warm welcome to members and friends. The speaker for the evening was Ian Headrick from Newmills, Fife. Ian showed a film entitled "From Plough to Plate". It was about times past and followed farmers working the ground producing oats. It started with the horse and plough and finished with oatcakes being made in a kitchen - a fascinating story, evoking many memories in the audience ... those were the days! It is a unique piece of film and depicts the life and work of farmers in Aberdeen-shire and captures the cultural identity of the "ordinary" man.

A delicious supper was provided by Jean Fergusson Allison McLeod and Lorna Wyllie.

It was a super start to the year.
