Monthly Meeting - 'Through Endurance We Conquer'

To welcome in a new year we all raised a glass of bubbles - cheers!
There was an excellent turnout for the first meeting of 2020. After the business Anne welcomed our speaker for the evening, Dr Kirsty Robb, Senior Scientist. I.B.I.O.I.C.
Kirsty shared with the audience her experiences about her exciting times while on an Antarctic Expedition with the help of some wonderful slides. It was fascinating to hear how an expedition of this scale is put together - lots of organising and fundraising. It was so interesting to learn more about the vast open wilderness of Antarctica, but sadly its changing with climate change. Kirsty told us that her passion is helping people who don't have access to the mountains by making it all possible. Kirsty is a mountain leader and a DofE leader - a very busy girl! Thank you for taking the time to come to Ruskie. Her next expedition is to the Arctic in March.
