RUSKIE JANUARY MEETING – TUESDAY 12 JANUARY 2021

Almost 60 people packed online for Ruskie’s January meeting – a reminder of the power of the SWI (and Zoom!) to bring friends together from near and far and on this occasion far more that our wee hall could hold!

Anne Artis kicked off the meeting with a (very) brief summary of business, before our entertainment for the night began. The diary is understandably ’light’ at the moment but on Sunday 9th May we have been asked to steward at the Glencoe Marathon, a great chance to get out in the fresh air and raise some much needed funds for Ruskie! Congratulations also go to Joy Spence who celebrated her 38th Wedding Anniversary with us - she was married in Australia in the sunshine - quite different from here!

We were then treated to a wonderful musical evening with brothers Adam and Andrew Gibb on keyboards and accordion. Each boy played both instruments and entertained us with a range of songs and ‘banter’ which had the members singing, swaying along and laughing followed by riotous applause! A wonderful evening with home grown talent (quite literally as Adam and Andrew are the grandsons of Elsie Dougall!) which went above and beyond expectations which were already high! If you are looking for the boys band on Facebook.....look out for Squeezebox Ceilidh Band - (1) Squeezebox Ceilidh Band | Facebook

The evening finished off with Auld Lang Syne and our thanks again to the brothers for making the time to join us and giving members and guests a real treat!
