"How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains"
Tuesday 13 February 2018
Anne Artis, President extended a warm welcome to members and friends, a super turnout on such a cold night.
The speaker for the evening was Mark Aitken. Mark is a very keen mountaineer and his passion is climbing in Nepal. He is a lover of wild places and nature and by his own admission, addicted to the mountains. Mark shared some wonderful films of his various adventures in Nepal, the scenery was stunning. He has high praise for the Sherpas who help and advise the climbers.
'Reaching the summit is optional. Returning safely is mandatory '
Some of these films can be viewed here, here or here.
After the presentation questions flowed from the floor, which Mark answered and told us so much more about the people and the country of Nepal.
He said that you don't need to go abroad to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, its right on our door step, here in Scotland.
Our raffle money went to Community Action Nepal - CAN. The money will go direct to help the people of Nepal.
A delicious supper was provided by Liz Black Elizabeth Dykes and Susan Ross
